Alan’s cabin in the woods

This beautiful little cabin has tree stump foundations, piece en piece scribe log walls and a wood shingle roof.

Our office

Our Office

Our office sits cantilevered over a 300ft gorge using recycled pilon steel. The oak post and beam frame, externally clad in untreated larch boards, with an establishing mineral soil roof to match the surroundings provides the perfect place to get creative and inspired.

Carport-come-banqueting hall

This log frame was designed to create a beautiful, interesting and light space. Special effort was made to find curved timber for the braces which either have lap or mortice and tenon connections.

Matt’s getaway cabin

This simple cabin was designed to provide a quiet space to escape to. Built from windblown Douglas fir logs, the cabin has full scribe walls, saddle corner notches, and post and purlin gables.

Log Benches

Proportionally, log benches look best when they are big. This one can seat 18. Made from Douglas fir logs which were treated with Deks ojil® (light) and pine tar (dark).

My home

This was the first log building I worked on and started my passion for building with logs. Designed originally as a getaway for my brother and I to escape the parents house. Later as priorities changed we moved the building 5 miles down the road to our site at Bedrock. We also added a mezzanine floor and ridge light window.

Shed

Our 150 meters squared shed, was the first project I managed employing friends at various stages to help during the project. A great learning opportunity with some mistakes, the shed has been a fundamental asset and stepping stone whilst we complete our new workshop.

Working with others

We have also worked with volunteer groups, sharing our passion for log building showing whats involved and how to get started.

Dining room table

A bespoke chunky table ( 2 x 0.9 m ) with a solid one piece top from Plodda falls. The Douglas Fir top is a through and through live edge and is 98 years old. The legs are flitched larch and the treatment is a mixture of pine tar and Deks ojil®.
